The synergistic relationship between these two minerals is well known.  This particular combination can also be taken at bedtime to enhance sleep.  Doubling the calcium concentration to the magnesium gives excellent absorbability properties.  The minerals are chelated to glycinates for enhanced absorption.  Some South African soils are low in magnesium levels and hence the magnesium status of many individuals is low.

Benefits and how it works:

Both calcium and magnesium are major minerals for our bodies with a variety of  vital complex reactions.

Calcium glycinate – Although calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, most adults get half the calcium needed each day.  Eating enough calcium rich foods may be difficult, and absorption is complex and can be poor.  Supplementation is often our best bet.  The majority of the body’s calcium is stored in the bones and teeth, where it provides strength and structure. Magnesium glycinate – magnesium is involved in over 300 reactions in the body such as energy production, nerve function, muscle relaxation and bone and tooth formation.  Magnesium may help to prevent or combat many chronic diseases. In conjunction with calcium and potassium, magnesium regulates heart rhythm and blood clotting.  It also aids in the production and use of insulin. Because magnesium relaxes muscles, it is useful for sports injuries and fibromyalgia.  It can also ease PMS and menstrual cramps and increase bone density in postmenopausal women by helping prevent the onset of osteoporosis. It has been known to expand airways, aiding in the treatment of asthma and bronchitis.
